DIDC

The path to pointe.

Dancing en pointe is a milestone every serious ballet student dreams about — and reaching it safely takes structure, strength, and honest guidance. At DIDC, the path runs through our Academy ballet program: Ballet, then Pre-Pointe, then Pointe.

Pre-Pointe builds the specific foot, ankle, and core strength pointe work demands, while instructors track each dancer's readiness individually. When a dancer gets the nod to go en pointe here, it's because she's truly ready — and that moment is unforgettable.

Questions parents ask

Pointe FAQ.

At what age can a dancer start pointe?

There's no single magic age — readiness depends on strength, technique, and physical development. Our instructors evaluate each Academy ballet dancer individually before recommending Pre-Pointe and then Pointe.

What is Pre-Pointe class?

Pre-Pointe builds the specific foot, ankle, and core strength that pointe work demands, while refining ballet technique — it's the bridge between ballet slippers and pointe shoes.

How many ballet classes does a pointe student need?

Pointe students train in regular ballet classes alongside pointe work — consistent technique class is what keeps pointe safe and progressing. We'll recommend a schedule for your dancer's level.
